Asian shares defy Wall St selloff; US futures in green


Stock Market Live: Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty are eyeing a quiet start on Friday after plunging to four-month lows in the previous session. At 7:15 am, the Gift Nifty futures were nearly flat at 18,973. 


Asian markets, however, held their ground this morning in an attempt to rebound from sharp losses previously. Nikkei, Hang Seng rose 0.9 and 0.7 per cent, respectively. S&P/ASX 200 and Kospi gained up to 0.44 per cent. 


In the US after-market trade, Nasdaq futures were in green, up 0.7 per cent as Amazon rose 5 per cent on beating earnings expectations. S&P 500 futures gained 0.5 per cent, and Dow futures were up 0.3 per cent. 


Back home, Q2 earnings of Reliance Industries, Maruti, Cipla, Dr Reddy’s, SBI Cards, among others will be on radar.
