Accor has opened its latest ibis property in the Spanish capital Madrid.
The 159-room ibis budget Madrid Aeropuerto is located on the site of the former Iveco-Pegaso factory, around ten minutes south of Madrid–Barajas airport in the city’s San Blas-Canilejas district.
According to Accor the hotel “is part of a project to implement a large logistics hub next to the A-2 that will serve the whole of the city, revitalising a strategic area of Madrid”.
The group also said that the building had been constructed “in such a way as to completely insulate the hotel from outside noise and air traffic, as well as having a thermal transmission coefficient of almost zero”.
The property joins the existing ibis Madrid Aeropuerto Barajas, located to the west of the airport, as well as several other ibis hotels around the Spanish capital.
Commenting on the news Rafael Santos, VP operations franchised operations Iberia, Mediterranean and North Africa, said:
“We are delighted to open this new establishment in Madrid with our trusted partner, Continuum Hospitality Group, with whom we already have two establishments open, ibis budget Madrid Centro Lavapiés and ibis budget Bilbao City and two more in the pipeline, ibis budget Logroño Centro, which will open in the second half of 2024 and ibis Madrid Norte Las Tablas, which is scheduled to open in 2026”.
Accor has opened several ibis properties at or around European airports in 2023, including ibis Styles Bucharest Airport and ibis Styles Warsaw Airport.
The group has also announced the following forthcoming ibis airport properties this year:
