Mayor Wu’s Boston Housing Problem

The political prospects for restoring rent control in Boston aren’t looking good. But that hasn’t stopped Mayor Michelle Wu from trying to revive it.

This month an effort to put the question before voters failed. Sponsored by state Rep. Mike Connolly, it would have given localities the option of introducing rent control. But it gathered only about 11,000 of the 75,000 signatures needed to get it on the 2024 ballot.
