DHL easyJet workers suspend Gatwick strike action – Business Traveller

The Unite union has confirmed the suspension of strike action by nearly 600 DHL workers at Gatwick airport. Last week the union announced eight days of strike action by ASC, Menzies Aviation, GGS and DHL Services Ltd employees at the airport, in a dispute over pay. Members had been set to strike for four days from Friday 28 July to Tuesday 1 August, and then again from Friday 4 August to Tuesday 8 August. Gatwick set for eight days of strike action – Business Traveller

Gatwick airport is set to be disrupted by eight days of strike action over the next month. The Unite union confirmed that 950 ASC, Menzies Aviation, GGS and DHL Services Ltd employees will walk out in a dispute over pay. Unite said members would strike for four days from Friday 28 July to Tuesday 1 August, and then again from Friday 4 August to Tuesday 8 August. The companies are employed by carriers including British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair, TUI, WestJet and Wizz Air, to outsource ground handling, baggage handling, ramp agent, dispatcher and check in agent roles. EasyJet cancels 1,700 summer flights from Gatwick – Business Traveller

EasyJet has cut around 1,700 flights from its Gatwick summer schedules, as a result of “challenging conditions” due to ATC strikes and the ongoing war in Ukraine. The cancellations cover the months of July, August and September, when many customers will be heading off on their summer holidays. The airline said that 95 per cent of customers affected by the cancellations had been rebooked onto alternative flights, and all affected passengers have been provided with the option to rebook or receive a refund. Last summer easyJet was also forced to cancel services as the airline industry struggled to cope with the sudden ramping up in demand, following the relaxation of Covid-19 travel restrictions.
